Earthquake in Haiti

The picture of this woman was on the first page of all the newspapers in the world.

On Tuesday January 12, 2010 an extreme earthquake occurred near Port Au Prince which is the capital of Haiti. This earthquake was followed by smaller earthquakes. An estimation of 50 - 500 thousand people died and thousands of others still remain missing. Right now the people are searching for survivors and are leaving the capital in search of food. The buildings were poorly built and many collapsed. The buildings weren't constructed to withstand an earthquake of that magnitude (7.0). They also didn't have enough money to buid strong buildings. The people are still in great suffering. The lack of water, food, and medecin are killing them. Some people were very lucky and survived while their family died. They are now fighting for their survival and for the finding of food and water. Haiti is the poorest country in the world because every year or few years, a catastrophe or disaster happens in that country and it makes the country poor and not well developed every time. My prays are with them.
